Notifications not syncing?

Until recently when I would delete an unread email using the gmail web portal from my PC, the notification would disappear from the lock screen on my phone. Now it doesn’t. Is there a reason the change isn’t being synced to the app any longer? It’s annoying that I have to dismiss every email twice when I’m using my PC.
